Taking our Learning Out of the Classroom

Mrs C has been encouraging us to take our learning out of the classroom.  We know that if we come home and share our learning, take a photo and send it to Mrs C on ClassDojo, we get extra Dojo points for sharing our knowledge with others.

Here are some of our super stars who have been caught sharing their knowledge:

What a super star - Tipuala learned this new strategy on Wednesday 22nd of March and went straight home to show his Mum.  Kai pai tō mahi Tipaula!

Here is the example he used to teach his mum how to add using tidy tens:

Leonard and his Mum star in this awesome video after Leonard took his learning home to share...

I think you all agree Leonard and Reina (Leonard's Mum) deserve a massive pakipaki for their starring roles in this learning clip!

Leonard and Tipaula have been learning how to use a strategy called near doubles in maths.  Here are the evidential photos sent to Mrs C to show how these two had shared their knowledge at home:

Leonard shared this with his Mum

Kia Ora E Hoa!

Room 2 have been learning how to say hello to our friend in Te Reo and ask how they are doing.  Mrs C has also taught us how to ask someone how they are feeling once we have had our turn responding to their question.  Check out these brave superheroes who were proud to have a go.  It's not always easy at first...

Juliette MacIver Meets Room 2

Room 2 were super lucky to meet Juliette MacIver this week.  She is a fantastic author and we have lots of her books already in our school.  Some of the books she has written include:

If you would like to know more about Juliette MacIver you can follow her blog here

Here is a video of the mischief we got up to during Juliette's visit with us:

Room 2 Swimming Lessons

Over the past three weeks Room 2 had swimming lessons at Cannons Creek Pool.  Here is a video showing a compilation of these lessons.  We hope you enjoy it...

Stage 3 - experts with counting on

Here is a video of our learning in maths today, ask us about counting on and get us to show you.  We are learning to do this by imaging, which means that we don't have the numbers in front of us, we have to imagine they are there.  Very soon we will be able to do this in our minds, with no materials at all.  Enjoy our learning video!
